The fragmentation sleeve is a 286 cm (112 in) long square cross-section steel wire 4mm (0.157 in) thick with a 0.7 mm (0.28 in) deep “V”notch spaced out every 4.5 mm (0.177 in). The wire is formed into as steel coil with the V-notches facing in towards the explosive core. The layout of the fragmentation coil would theoretically result in over 635 4mm (0.157 in) roughly cubical fragments.
