MANUFACTURER – STAR Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A., Eibar, Spain, Imported by Atlantic Importing Company, New York, NY
STATUS – Obsolete
SERVICE – Tested only, no US service or commercial sales
This was a slightly modified version of the Star TM 35 submachinegun, submitted to the US Military for trials in August 1942. The cyclic rate of fire was reduced to 500 rounds per minute, the trigger mechanism slightly simplified, and a vertical front grip added to just ahead of the magazine well. The Atlantic was not considered superior to the original Star design after testing and was somewhat inferior in accuracy and functioning to other weapons in the testing. The fact that it used a non-standard caliber, not found in the US Military inventory, eliminated the Atlantic from any further consideration.
