Fitted with the receiver cap, this was the shortest and most easily concealed of the standard- sized MP5 submachinegun family. The MP5A1 designation was not an official one assigned by Heckler & Koch, though it had been used for a few years in the 1960s on the original MP5 with a sliding stock. It used here as a generally accepted nomenclature to account for this style of layout.
