     An experimental attempt to produce a shorter version of the Kar 98k from a 1940 directive. The project was shelved by July 1942 after only a reported 28 specimens had been produced. Outside of its shortened barrel length, the weapon is otherwise almost identical to the Kar 98k except for the rear sight only being calibrated out to 1000 meters, minor changes in the fittings, and the trigger guard having a distinctive shape
