The production body of the Type 82-2 is formed from A3 steel plate with a thickness of 2.5 mm (0.098 in) with the inner wall of the round being punched with preformed fragments 4.6×4.6 mm (0.18 in x 0.18 in) square. The grenade is notable in that it comes with a plastic shipping cap that encloses the entire fuse for maximum safety. The cap is easily and quickly removed.
