The M385A1 round is the nearly identical to the M385. The only difference is that the ogive of the M385A1 projectile is shaped to match that of the M430 HEDP round. Both projectiles have a thinner diameter center section, giving them a mushroom shape. This construction is an additional aid in identifying the round as a practice projectile.
