This model became available in 1926 after the Cutts muzzle compensator had been developed and adopted by the Auto Ordnance Company.  The compensator was attached to the barrel of the weapons (at the factory). The four slots cut across the top third of the compensator deflected muzzle blast gases upwards and helped to hold the barrel of the weapon down against climbing on full automatic fire. Addition of the Cutts Compensator adds 0.08 kg (2.8 oz) to the overall weight of the weapons and 5.08 cm (2 in)
