SERVICE – Limited military service with US Marine Paratroop units

This is a shortened version of the Reising M50 with a wire folding stock, pistol grip, and no compensator on the muzzle. The weapon was intended originally for US Marine Paratroop units but they found it had the same drawbacks of difficulty operating in a dirty environment, as the Model 50. The wire stock was also found to be serviceable, but relatively weak. Another difficulty was that there was no means to lock the stock in the open position. Unless held carefully, firing from the shoulder could prove inaccurate as the stock would start to fold while being used. It did find additional use with vehicle operators and mechanized troops, primarily for its availability and short overall length. Production of this version ceased altogether in 1945.
