This is a further evolved and improved version of the PM-98. One of the major changes is the three-position sliding butt stock. Fully extended, the stock rotates down slightly to raise the sight line to the operator’s eye. Partially halfway or two-thirds fully open, the locked and shortened stock is more suited to fitting an operator wearing body armor. The redesigned butt plate is now curved to better fit the operator’s shoulder. A standard feature is a MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail on the rear of the top cover. There is also an alternate fore end available that has three sections of MIL-STD-1913 rail for the attachment of aiming devices, illuminators, or a vertical front handle. As in earlier models, the standard front grip of the PM-06 can mount internally laser projectors or other illuminating devices.

Internally, the PM-06 uses the same operating system and parts layout as the earlier PM-98. Magazine can be interchanged between the PM-06 and the PM-98. The cocking knob is a rectangular protrusion on the left side of the receiver. The cocking knob is fixed to the bolt and reciprocates with the action. Parts of the weapon, particularly the top cover, have been strengthened being now made of a thicker steel.
