The AbwFmW42 is a functional copy of the Soviet FOG-1 Flame Fougasse which was encountered by the Germans in 1941. Effectively a flame land mine, the AbwFmW42 can be initiated as either single units or multiples in line, on command or by tripwires or additional devices. The flame stream suddenly produced by the AbwFmW42 reached out to (15) yards depending on placement. At that distance, the flame jet was observed to be about (5 yards) wide and (3 yards) tall. Carefully placing multiple AbwFmW42 weapons could cause a solid wall of flame to be suddenly produced in front of approaching troops
